High Frequency Antenna Installation

At approximately 10:00AM EDT on June 25, 2021, Lynchburg Amateur Radio Club will begin setup for Field Day 2021. Still photography and video will be accommodated during this activity.

The installation will include the installation of several high-frequency antenna, which are approximately 200 feet in length near the lake at the Izaak Walton Park in Amherst County, VA. The antennas will be used by the transmitters that the club will use to simulate emergency communications during Field Day, which starts at 2:00PM EDT on Saturday, June 26, 2021.

In addition, members of the media will be invited to participate in the “Get on the Air” event that will take place during Field Day, in which members of the public will have the opportunity to communicate with ham radio operators elsewhere in the world over ham radio.

The event will take place at the Izaak Walton League of Lynchburg, 210 Conservation Lane, Amherst, VA. The site will also be open for press visits during the Field Day event starting at 2:00PM on Saturday, June 26, 2021. Appointments are requested for these visits.
